Pittsylvania County voters will be again asked to approve a 1% sales tax increase for the county’s public schools. The Board of Supervisors voted this week to put the referendum on the November ballot. Virginia law allows divisions to increase the sales tax by 1% to pay for upgrades and repairs to school buildings. In 2021 voters rejected the referendum by just under 2 dozen votes.
