2 Pittsylvania County bridges may be renamed in honor of fallen Virginia State Police Officers if resolutions passed by the Board of Supervisors are approved by the Commonwealth Transportation Board. Supervisors are recommending that the U.S. 29 North Bridge in Hurt be named the “Trooper Henry Murray Brooks, Jr. Memorial Bridge” and the Route 57 Bridge east of Chatham be named the “Trooper Henry Noel Harmon Memorial Bridge.” Both troopers served in the county.
