High inflation has led to skyrocketing gas prices across the U.S. The average price for a gallon of gas in the country as of Tuesday was $4.17, according to AAA. Some states have already paused their gas taxes, and Joe Biden has announced that he will release about a million barrels of oil from US Reserves each day for the next six months, but industry analyists say that only amounts to a small bit of the national daily use, so the effect will be minimal. While prices here in Virginia and North Carolina are high, other states are higher. As of Tuesday, states with the highest gas prices are mainly concentrated in the upper east coast and the west coast, while Alaska and Hawaii also rank near the top. The most expensive gas is in California right now, where the average price per gallon is $5.83.
