HENRY COUNTY, Va. – A Henry County school was placed under lockdown Thursday, but authorities found nothing during an extensive search of the classrooms and grounds.
According to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, shortly after 9:45 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 10, word came in from a Fieldale-Collinsville Middle School student that a bomb threat had been made against the school through a text message, which the student received on a cell phone.
The middle school was placed on a partial lockdown while police investigated the threat.
Authorities used explosive detection K-9’s from the sheriff’s office and Virginia State Police to check the school and grounds. However, officials say they determined the threat was not credible and the school resumed normal operations.
