DANVILLE, Va. – A Danville woman suffered second-degree burns in a kitchen fire Tuesday afternoon.
The Danville Fire Department responded to 1215 Washington Street at 4:20 p.m. Firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from the rear of the single story home. Crews confined the fire to the kitchen, which sustained minor fire, smoke, heat, and water damage.
The lone occupant was outside when firefighters arrived but suffered burns while removing a pot from the stove. She was treated at the scene by the Danville Lifesaving Crew and transported to Sovah Health Danville for treatment of second-degree burns.
The Danville Fire Marshal determined the blaze was caused by unattended cooking.
16 firefighters were on scene for about 90 minutes.
