Ridgeway, Va. – Virginia State Police are trying to determine why a woman was lying in the street when she was struck and killed Wednesday night. It happened about 10:30 on Route 688 in Henry County.

Investigators say 46-year-old Stephanie Vanantwerp Davis of Ridgeway died was lying in the road when she was hit by a 2002 Chevy Venture. Davis died at the scene.

The driver of the car was not injured.

State Police are continuing their investigation.
