RICHMOND, Va. – Seven residents of the South Roanoke Nursing Home who tested positive for the coronavirus have died.

There were significant underlying health conditions with each patient, according to Jennifer Eddy, spokeswoman for American Healthcare which manages the facility. The average age of the victims was 89.

WDBJ reports that all residents and staff were tested for the novel virus. 33 residents and 28 employees have recorded positive results for COVID-19. The facility is still awaiting some test results.

Meanwhile, A food service worker for Halifax County Public Schools has tested positive for Coronavirus.  A statement from school Superintendent Mark Lineburg says the worker was asymptomatic.  As a result, a number of foodservice employees will be in quarantine until May 11, 2020.

All food distribution will be also suspended at all Halifax County public schools until May 11.

Health officials say there are no additional risks to families who picked up their food at the Halifax County schools.
