HALIFAX COUNTY, Va. – A 66-year-old South Boston woman convicted of murdering her son-in-law and dumping his body down a well has been released from prison after serving just eight years of a 23-year sentence.

WSET reports that Debra Scribner was paroled and released from jail on March 30.

Scribner, her daughter and grandson were all implicated in the 2011 murder of Eric Wynn, whose body was found at the bottom of a well on his property.

The commonwealth’s attorney for Halifax County says she has appealed the parole board’s early release decision.
