DANVILLE, Va. – Danville firefighters responded to a fire at the Cardinal Village Apartements early Tuesday.

Smoke was visible from the rear of the two-story apartment building when the first unit arrived at 628 Edmonds Street at 5:20 AM.

The occupant advised everyone was out of the apartment on fire.

Crews entered the building and put out the fire. The adjacent apartments were cleared and fire damage was limited to the second floor. There was also smoke and water damage to the apartment that was on fire. There was minor damage to an adjacent apartment.

The Housing Authority is helping the occupants and will be moving them to another apartment.

The cause of the fire was a hoverboard that was being charged in the room.

Firefighters were on scene for about two hours.

There were no injuries.
