CONCORD, N.C. – A Gretna man who was returning from New Orleans made it as far as Concord, N.C. before collapsing at a service station.

Landon Spradlin, a well known blues guitarist and street preacher, was taken to a hospital in North Carolina, where family members say he was diagnosed positive for COVID-19.

At last report, Spradlin was in isolation and on a ventilator in serious condition.

His wife, Jean, was with him at the time and is being checked for exposure to caronavirus.

If the diagnosis is confirmed, Spradlin would be counted among the Virginia patients with coronavirus since he lives in Gretna.

As of Sunday, Virginia health officials were reporting about 220 cases of COVID-19. Six people have died in the commonwealth.
