PITTSTLVANIA COUNTY, Va. – An 84-year-old motorist faces charges after colliding head-on with a fire truck and injuring two first responders.

According to the Gretna Police Department, a Toyota Camry ran into a Gretna Fire and Rescue truck at the intersection of East Gretna Road and Chaney Lane around 7:20 Friday night. The firefighters were responding to another call at the time of the collision.

The two firefighters and the driver of the Camry were transported to the hospital for minor injuries and later released. The Toyota was totaled but authorities say the fire truck may be repairable.

Since the fire truck was en route to a call with its lights and sirens flashing, the driver of the Toyota was charged with failing to yield to an emergency vehicle.
