DANVILLE, Va. – Onis Donnell Moon is headed to prison for life.
Danville Circuit Court Judge James Reynolds sentenced the 54-year-old to life without parole for the brutal stabbing deaths of an elderly couple in their home on September 7, 2018. Moon was convicted of the capital murders of 83-year-old Royal Douglas Barley, and his 87-year-old wife, Valean Barley.
Investigators were called to the couple’s home in the 100 block of Lexington Avenue, where they found the husband and wife dead and their daughter seriously injured.
According to the Danville Register and Bee, Judge Reynolds also sentenced Moon to an additional 20 years for the malicious wounding of Sandra Callands, the Barley’s daughter. Moon was in a relationship with her at the time of the homicides. Her parents were stabbed through the heart. Both were confined to wheelchairs.
