PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. – A home on the Old Richmond Road was destroyed in an early morning fire.

Units from several Pittsylvania County volunteer departments responded about 5 a.m. following a report of a house fire at 6674 Old Richmond Road in the Blairs community.

Flames were shooting from the single-story frame house when the first units reached the scene.  All of the occupants got out of the home uninjured but the house was a total loss.

Old Richmond Road was blocked to traffic as crews worked to pump water onto the fire.

The cause will be investigated by the Pittsylvania County fire marshal.
