DANVILLE, Va. – The Danville Fire Department has lifted its burn ban that had been in effect since September 24.

According to Danville’s public information officer, recent amounts of rain have decreased the risk of wildfires from outdoor burning.

Residents are now allowed to burn leaves, and tree, yard and garden trimmings at a length of more 300 feet from the neighboring property, without permission.

Contractors may obtain permits for open burning of materials collected while clearing land.

Burn bans have also been lifted in Pittsylvania and Halifax Counties.
