DANVILLE, Va. – The Virginia Department of Education released its accreditation results Monday and two of Danville’s eleven schools made the grade.
In Danville, Galileo Magnet High School and Forest Hills Elementary School achieved accreditation. The other nine – including George Washington High School — were accredited with conditions.
Danville School Superintendent Dr. Stanley Jones said the results were expected and the school system is working to address the problem.
All Pittsylvania County schools received full accreditation.
Statewide, 92 percent of Virginia public schools are accredited for the 2019-2020 school year. 1,682 Virginia schools are fully accredited for the 2019-2020 school year while five are accredited pending review of alternative plans. The “accredited with conditions” status applies to 132 schools. 252 schools will undergo academic reviews.
