DANVILLE, Va. – A Pittsylvania County woman has died as a result of injuries she suffered in a car crash earlier this week.

At midnight Sunday, police and EMS responded to a 911 call for a single-vehicle crash in the 1100 block of Piney Forest Road. The driver and passenger were transported by ambulance to SOVAH Health-Danville and later to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. The passenger, 26- year-old Tyana L. Lanier, died at the hospital on the night of Sept. 24.

Danville Police said a Chevrolet Sonic was traveling south on Piney Forest Road when it struck a utility pole. The circumstances of the crash are still under investigation.

Investigators and crime scene personnel examined the scene and conducted witness interviews.

No charges have been filed at this time.
