CHATHAM, Va. – A juvenile has been charged in a choking incident that happened recently on a Pittsylvania County school bus.

The Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office confirms that an investigation into the incident has resulted in a juvenile petition being issued and served. The individual faces one count of assault and battery.

The choking was brought to the attention of the sheriff’s department this week and police and school officials have been working to determine the person responsible.

In a video posted online, the Gretna Middle School student is seen being grabbed by his hoodie and dragged over the back of his seat before being released after landing on the floor of the bus.

Sheriff’s deputies met with the victim and his parents, which led to a formal investigation into the choking incident.

A court date has yet to be scheduled and no names have been released.
