(Danville, Va.) — The Virginia Southern Christian Leadership Conference wants some answers about the blackface scandal that has shrouded the administration of Gov. Ralph Northam since a racist photo from more than 30 year ago first surfaced.
The group’s president, the Rev. William Keen of Danville, said the SCLC plans to tour Virginia this summer and meet with state leaders “to address this matter.”
An investigation by a Richmond law firm was inconclusive. Attorney Thomas Cullen said they could not determine who was in a 35-year old photo depicting a man dressed in blackface and another wearing a KKK robe.
