(Danville, Va.) – A challenger is seeking the office of Clerk of Court for Danville Circuit Court.

Charles Crumpler announced recently that he is running for the seat. He cites his experience with the Virginia Department of Corrections at the Green Rock facility. In that capacity, Crumpler supervises a staff of eight and is responsible for audits and accreditation, policy and procedure compliance, grievances, and processing and handling criminal records.

If elected, Crumpler said he “would focus on customer service by changing the public office hours to 8:30-4:30 like the other Clerks’ Offices in the Danville Court House.”  In addition to expanding office hours, Crumpler plans to “reinstitute passport applications and improve the Clerk’s website so that it will be more informative and user friendly.”

Crumpler has been with the Virginia Department of Corrections for more than 25 years and has worked as a Danville Circuit Court Probation Officer. He said that experience has given him “an appreciation for the obligation and responsibilities of the Danville Circuit Court Clerk’s Office.”

Incumbent Gerald Gibson announced last week that he plans to seek a sixth term.
