(Danville, Va.) — Danville is one of 26 cities and counties across Virginia to receive more than $43 million in federal funding to support affordable housing development.
Locally, the Danville Redevelopment and Housing Authority will get about $1.1 million for housing projects in the city.
The federal dollars were awarded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Public Housing Capital Fund. The fund provides money to public housing agencies in Virginia for the development, financing and modernization of public housing developments.
Besides Danville, Roanoke is getting $3.4 million, while Lynchburg will receive about $862,000.
