(Rockingham County, N.C.) — The Rockingham County School community is mourning the death of an 11th grader killed in a car crash Thursday afternoon.
The crash happened Thursday on Dibrell Road near N.C. Highway 700 around 5:14 p.m. According to the N.C. Highway Patrol, 17-year-old Trevor Wall was headed north in a 2003 Toyota when his car ran off the right side of road, overcorrected, and then traveled off the roadway again. The car went down an embankment and hit a tree. Wall was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene.
The trooper who investigated said Wall was not wearing a seatbelt and speed was a contributing factor.
Wall was an 11th grader at Rockingham Early College High.
