(Pelham, N.C.) — A 40-year-old Pelham man died in a fiery crash Monday evening after hitting another vehicle head-on in Caswell County.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol says Harry Denton Ireson III was traveling south on Nunnally Road near Chandler Mill Road in a 1994 Buick when he crossed the center line and struck a car driven by 49-year-old Thomas Bowes, also of Pelham, at around 6:30 p.m.

Bowes was traveling north in a 2016 Ford pick-up and was not injured in the accident.

Following impact, Ireson’s car came to rest in the driveway of a Nunnally Road home, where it burst into flames. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ireson was not wearing a seatbelt and there was no evidence that he was speeding or impaired.
