(Danville, Va.) — Gov. Ralph Northam was in town Wednesday but the appearance was not open to the media.
Northam held a private, roundtable discussion with area black leaders as the governor works to repair damage from publication of a racist photo that appeared in his medical school yearbook.
The particulars of the meeting weren’t disclosed but Danville Mayor Alonzo Jones says the issue of the blackface photo was addressed to his satisfaction. He said they also talked about education and the need to boost teacher salaries.
Norham has pledged to tour the state in an effort to bring reconciliation
