(Danville, Va.) – The FBI is now offering a $7,500 reward for information leading to an arrest in the murder of a Danville businessman almost two years ago.
Tahir Mahmud was found dead of gunshot wounds behind the counter of the Joy Food Store in the 500 block of Riverside Drive on September 12, 2017. Danville Police determined that Mahmud was shot during the course of a robbery. He was survived by a wife and young child.
A witness spotted a man running from the direction of the store around the time of the robbery and homicide. He was described as a black male, slender, wearing unique jeans.
Investigators with the FBI Richmond Division’s South Piedmont Violent Gang Task Force have posted a $7,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the person responsible for the robbery-murder. Anyone with information is asked to call 804-261-1044.
