(Burlington, N.C.) — A Yanceyville man is in critical condition after slamming his car into a utility pole in Burlington, N.C.
Police said Paris Grant, 20, of Yanceyville was traveling west on US 70 at a high rate of speed when his car left the road struck the pole. Grant became trapped inside the vehicle and had to be transported by helicopter to the hospital where he is currently listed in critical condition.
The wreck happened just before 8:45 p.m Saturday.
Burlington police believe Grant’s car was traveling about 80-85 mph and struck the utility pole at approximately 70 mph. The wreck closed one of the lanes on North Church Street for about three hours.
