(Danville, Va.) — Danville Police have charged a 60-year-old city resident in a Saturday night shooting.

Calvin Purnell Clark was arrested at the scene of the shooting, which happened about 10:45 p.m. in the 2100 block of Baxter Street . He has been charged with aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and with discharging a firearm in an occupied building. Clark is being held without bond in the Danville City Jail.

Police were called to the address after receiving a report that someone had been shot inside the home. They responded to find a 43-year-old Danville man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken initially to SOVAH Health-Danville and later transferred to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in critical, but stable condition.

Another 49-year-old Danville resident in the house was assaulted during the incident and was released following treatment at the local hospital.
