(Danville, Va.) — Goodyear confirmed Thursday that about 60 hourly positions are being cut at the truck tire plant in Danville, Va.

A Goodyear spokeswoman said all of those affected by the layoffs are hourly associates.

Goodyear Communications Manager Barbara Hatala said: The company continually adjusts staffing levels to operate as efficiently as possible so that we can best serve our customers by providing them with the quality tires they need, when and where they need them.”

Hatala said the decision to eliminate the positions in Danville is part of Goodyear’s process to provide customers with quality tires.

Last week, Goodyear announced the elimination of 13 salaried positions in Danville. The notice did not say when the jobs will be cut.
