(Danville, Va.) — A man was airlifted to Roanoke Carilion Memorial Hospital following a shooting in Danville Monday night.

Police say the shooting happened around 8 pm on Cole Street. The 31-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen after he was shot at close range. He was transported by the Danville Lifesaving Crews to SOVAH Health Danville and then taken by helicopter to Roanoke, where he was last listed in serious condition.

Danville Police are investigating and had no information regarding a suspect.
