(Danville, Va.) — Danville Police Chief Scott Booth and local officers headed downtown for their 13th Community Engagement Walk Monday afternoon.
Unlike previous walks, this one was designed as a chance for police to meet with local business owners to receive their feedback on crime prevention. Booth says the first twelve meetings have all been held in residential neighborhoods and officers decided to branch out into the business community. Booth said “a lot of these folks — unless there is an issue — they never see an officer, so we want them in businesses more and this is kind of developing that relationship.”
Officers divided into teams and went door-to-door to businesses along lower Main and North Union Streets. Booth said the walks are designed to build trust and relationships between officers and members of the community.
