(Danville, VA) – On Wednesday afternoon four senior members of the George Washington High School Eagle Football team made official their plans to play football at the next level.
Surrounded by family, friends, teammates, and flanked by Head Coach Nick Anderson, Seniors Marquis Carter, Quenton Elam, Carl Poole, and Carlos Poole signed letters of intent to attend colleges based on offers they received from schools right here in Virginia. Coach Anderson spoke at length about the determination and focus on both athletics and academics that led these young men to this proud moment, and how proud he was of who they had all become.
Carter who played Center on the Eagle offensive line along with being a linebacker on defense, will be joining the Ferrum Cougars in the fall. Quenton Elam who played wide receiver and defensive back for the Eagles will be attending Virginia State University becoming a part of the Trojans. Elam made the game sealing interception against Halifax that brought the Eagles a home playoff game to open region play.
Twins Carl and Carlos Poole will be joining the Monarch’s of Old Dominion University. Carl who played both linebacker and running back, and Carlos who was the team’s quarterback look to bring a chemistry and tenacity of family to the Monarch squad.
