(Martinsville, Va.) – Martinsville Police have are looking for a 17-year-old following a weekend homicide.
The Martinsville-Henry County 911 center received a call that a man had been shot just before 11 pm Saturday. Henry County Sheriff’s deputies responded and found a victim outside a home in the 16-hundred block of Rivermont Heights Rd.
The occupant, 32-year-old Eric Montequilla Barksdale, had been shot and was located on the front porch of the home.
Deputies performed CPR until EMS personnel arrived. Barksdale was taken to SOVAH Health Martinsville where he was pronounced dead. His body will be taken to the state medical examiner for an autopsy.
Investigators say Barksdale and a teenager got into an argument and that the juvenile shot Barksdale before fleeing on foot. The 17-year-old is still at large and is wanted for second-degree murder and firearms charges.
