(Pittsylvania County, Va.) – No one was injured but a home was destroyed in an early morning fire in Pittsylvania County.
Units from a half-dozen volunteer fire departments responded to a call of a structure fire at 1256 Cobbs Knob Road in the Cascade community shortly after midnight. It was quickly determined that no one was home at the time.
The house was fully involved and firefighters battled the blaze for more than two hours. The fire was under control by 3:15 am and a spokesman with the Axton Fire Department said there were no injuries.
Units from Cascade, Brosville, Bachelors Hall, Tunstall, Mt. Cross and River Bend were also dispatched. Firefighters had trouble reaching the house because of its remote location and trucks didn’t clear the scene until just before 4 am.
The fire marshal is working to determine a cause.
