(Danville, Va.) — The Danville Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 907 ½ Halifax Road just after 7:30 Friday morning.
Crews arrived at 7:36 am and found a small, one-story residence fully involved with fire. Initial reports indicated that the house was a vacant building but that a person might be inside. Danville Police later located the person safely at another location.
The fire was knocked down and under control at 9:06 am. The house sustained major fire and water damage and the building will be condemned.
The Danville Fire Department responded with three engines, a ladder truck, a command unit, a support unit, rehab unit and a fire marshal. Seventeen fire personnel were on the scene for 3 hours and 45 minutes.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
