(Danville, VA) – Just four years after he took up running on a regular basis after the new YMCA was built without racquetball courts, 57 year old Steve Scott of Danville is planning to take it to another level in 2020.  The new level will include a trip around the globe running  seven marathons, on seven continents, in seven days.

He also has a goal of raising $100,000 for the Danville-Pittsylvania Cancer Association, to raise awareness and pay homage to his mother and other cancer survivors.  Steve’s 7-7-7 World Marathon Challenge is to run “Around the World for a Cure” for Run for Health Inc., a nonprofit organization.  “It is our goal that, along with supporting Steve in this World Marathon Challenge, we will also raise awareness and financial support for cancer victims in our local area,” according to the Around the World for a Cure website.

The trek will begin in Antarctica and finish in Miami traveling a total of 183 miles of running and spending close to 63 hours on a plane between the race locations.  In an attempt to raise the $40,000 entry fee for the challenge Scott will be running from Sheetz in Greensboro to Danville’s Sheetz on February 2nd.
