(Richmond, Va.) — Virginia State Police responded to 324 crashes and 196 disabled vehicles during the winter storm. Many were in the Richmond and Culpepper Divisions. In addition to those totals, troopers are currently investigating an additional 44 crashes and assisting disabled vehicles across the Commonwealth.

Virginia State Police blame icy road conditions for at least three traffic deaths in the Commonwealth over the weekend. The first happened in Pulaski County Saturday and claimed the life of 73-year-old Ronald Harris of Gainesville, Georgia. A 16-year-old was killed and another teen seriously injured on an icy rural road in Brunswick County Sunday. Another accident on Interstate 64 Sunday claimed the life of 27-year-old Stephanie Jefferson of Norfolk.

No weather-related accidents were reported in Danville, where most of the icing was along trees and power lines.
