(Pound, Va.) — Two corrections officers were injured in a Sunday morning attack by an inmate at the Wise County Prison.
The officers were attacked with a homemade weapon at Red Onion State Prison at around 6:30 in the morning.
One of the officers was treated for a puncture wounds to his upper body, while the other officer suffered a broken knee.
Both were treated at the Norton Community Hospital and released.
The attacker was a 31-year-old inmate who is serving a 65-year sentence for five counts of robbery and seven counts of using a firearm in commission of a felony.
