(Halifax County, Va.) – Firefighters from two counties responded to a structure fire just after midnight.
A Halifax County Sheriff’s deputy was the first on the scene. When the first units arrived, the single-story, frame house at 3168 Kerns Mill Road was fully involved with flames shooting from the roof.
Crews had to carry hoses to the scene and had difficulty reaching the structure because of road closures and repairs associated with last month’s storm.
Ringgold Fire and Rescue responded, along with the Keeling, Laurel Grove, Kentuck, and Turbeville Fire Departments.
There were no immediate reports of injuries in the fire. The cause is under investigation by the Halifax County Fire Marshal.
Firefighters remained on the scene until 4 a.m. Friday.
