(Henry County, Va.) — Henry County Commonwealth’s Attorney Andrew Nester said he plans to seek the death penalty for a Callands man charged with rape and capital murder.
42-year-old Curtis Trumaine Callaway is charged with two counts of capital murder, one count of rape, arson, and abduction with intent to defile in the death of 74-year-old Juanita Dalton. The Chatham woman’s body was found in a burning car on Irisburg Road in Axton on February 25, 2018. Investigators found blood on Callaway’s boots and say he was the last person to speak to Dalton.
Since this is a capital murder case, two attorneys will be appointed to represent Callaway.
