(Richmond, Va.) — Nelson County distillery owner Denver Riggleman has been elected to represent the 5th District of Virginia in Congress. Riggleman, a Republican, beat back a challenge from another newcomer, former investigative journalist Leslie Cockburn.

With 94% of precincts reporting, Riggleman had 151,852 votes — or 54% — while Cockburn had 129,857 votes, or 46%.
