Even after Hurricane Michael made land fall as a Category 4 storm system and quickly lost momentum to Tropical storm status it still wreaked havoc on the Danville area Thursday afternoon.  Streets were flooded and motorists were trapped as waters from the day’s storms quickly rose in low lying areas.  City Public Information officer Arnold Hendrix stated that, “All streams have flash flooded.”    Winds left trees and limbs down across the area which led to as many as 10,000 people without power.  Danville City Manager Ken Larking issued a Local State of Emergency for the area as part of the Flash Flood emergency.  Residents and visitors were urged to take precaution, do not attempt to travel unless necessary, and if they did travel, then do not drive through flooded streets or go near downed power lines.  Danville Emergency Services responded to multiple swift water rescues and stranded motorists, and the Danville Area Humane Society had to relocate some of its animals due to flood waters.
