(Rockingham County, N.C.) –The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a homicide.

Sheriff’s Deputies and the North Carolina Highway Patrol responded to 1450 Price Road in Eden just after 7:00 Monday evening, where they found 68-year-old Swanson Elroy Dalton dead from an apparent gunshot wound. Dalton was located by a friend who contacted emergency dispatchers after finding him in the home.

Rockingham County Sheriff’s Detectives were on the scene well into the night and are handling the investigation as an apparent homicide.
