(Danville, Va.) — Two Danville police officers observed a drug transaction in progress and their quick response led to five arrests and the confiscation of drugs and other contraband.

The officers were on routine patrol last week when they spotted a drug deal going down at the Travel Inn at 3500 West Main Street. The information was passed on to the Special Investigative Unit.

Search warrants were obtained and investigators from the Special Investigative Unit assisted by Street Crimes, and the Virginia State Police raided three hotel rooms. Officers seized two handguns, approximately four ounces of synthetic marijuana, over 1/2 ounce of cocaine, more than $900 in cash and digital scales used for drug distribution.

Five individuals were arrested. Police charged William Bean, Cedric Curley, Dominic Coleman, Shawn Holley and Whitney Freeman. The five are being held for violating terms of their probation and for contempt of court. Additional charges are pending.
