(Henry County, Va.) — No one was injured in a Sunday afternoon fire that destroyed a home in Henry County. Investigators were called to the single-story, frame house at 881 Chatham Road about 1 p.m. and found the structure fully ablaze with thick gray smoke visible for blocks.

No one was home at the time and no one was injured in the fire, although a volunteer firefighter was taken to the hospital for treatment of heat exhaustion.

An elderly couple lives at the residence and lost everything in the fire. Mary Robertson and her husband had been to a family reunion and was notified of the fire by a relative.

The couple had lived in the home for 50 years. Both are staying with family members.

The fire may have started in some unattended cooking
