(Danville, Va.) — A tree fell across a power line this afternoon, resulting in a major power outage.
The downed line had Westover Drive blocked from Westover Lane to Church Ave.
The outage occurred at 11:05 a.m. when a tree fell across a power line on Woodlawn Avenue and snapped the top of a utility pole.
A utility crew has been dispatched to replace the pole. Power service is expected to be restored by late afternoon.
The outage includes customers along Westover Drive from Piedmont Drive to Linden Lane and on Riverside Drive from the Windsor Heights subdivision to Parkway Drive.
More than 3,300 customers are without power.
The pole that was damaged carries two main feeder lines from the Westover Substation.
