(Halifax County, Va.) — The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office and Virginia State Police are investigating an apparent homicide.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to Sweeney Trail in Halifax County at around 6:30 Thursday night, where they found a man lying in the floor.

Investigators say the man had suffered head injuries and his death is being investigated as a homicide.

The body has been sent to the Medical Examiner’s office in Richmond.

A $1,000 reward has been offered to anyone with information that leads to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for the murder.
