(Hot Springs, Va.) — The candidates in Virginia’s first U.S. Senate debate went on the offensive during their first debate, with Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine calling out Republican Corey Stewart for his past associations and Stewart saying Kaine is only focused on stopping President Donald Trump.
Kaine pledged to listen to Virginia voters and solve their problems and accused Stewart of being in the “make it up category” during their debate.
Stewart, an avid Trump supporter who once served as chairman of Trump’s presidential campaign in Virginia, said he would go to Washington and stand next to the president as opposed to Kaine, who he said has been obstructing the president’s agenda.
