(Danville, Va.) – One person died in a Thursday morning house fire on the north side of Danville.
The victim’s name has not been released at this time but family members identify the deceased as 87-year-old, Louvenia Loney. A news release indicates that the woman’s body was found in a bedroom while crews were controlling the fire and searching the home.
Firefighters were sent to 213 First Street at 3:47 a.m. Crews arrived within five minutes and found heavy smoke coming from the single-story house. The home was saved but sustained heavy fire and smoke damage.
Four engines and a ladder truck responded, along with twenty firefighters.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
