(Danville, Va.) — Councilman Alonzo Jones was the unanimous choice as Danville’s new mayor Monday. The 8-0 vote came during council’s reorganizational meeting  at noon. Lee Vogler was named vice mayor.

Adam Tomer took the oath of office after being re-elected following a four-year sabbatical from the governing body.

Jones previously served as Danville vice mayor. Outgoing Mayor John Gilstrap did not seek re-election in May.
