(Lexington, Va.) — The Red Hen restaurant in Lexington remained closed Tuesday, four days White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was asked to leave.

The eatery was supposed to open at 5 p.m.; however, protesters who are urging a boycott of the Red Hen prevented that from happening. The protesters, many of whom came from out of state, gathered outside the restaurant throughout the day. One of the protesters who threw manure at the building was charged with disorderly conduct.

Also Tuesday, the restaurant’s owner, Stephanie Wilkerson, resigned as executive director of Main Street Lexington, saying she felt it was best for the organization for her to step down.
