(Danville, Va.) – 23-year-old Isaiah Irvin Harris of Danville has been charged after police say he crashed his car into the Clear Pond Apartments and then fled the scene.

The wreck happened just before midnight in the 100 block of Chatelaine Ave. A mother and her children were inside building 191 when the car came crashing through a front wall. They weren’t injured.

When officers arrived, the car and driver had left the scene. Harris and his vehicle were located a few minutes later at the dead end of Augusta Ave, where he had crashed into the guardrail and a tree.

Harris is charged with hit and run, DUI, and driving on a suspended operator’s license. He received minor injuries and was treated at SOVAH Health. No one in the apartment building was injured.
